Managing Stress and Emotional Hurdles in HHT (recorded)

Dr. Abbey Hughes, board-certified rehabilitation psychologist and assistant professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, discusses how to manage stress and emotional hurdles in HHT. Living with HHT often means coping with a host of unpredictable symptoms, including nosebleeds, anemia, fatigue, shortness of breath, headaches, and pain. These symptoms can create significant stress for people with HHT and their families, and can lead to depression and anxiety. Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, people with HHT may be feeling especially stressed due to changes in medical appointments, worries about AVMs, and disruptions to their daily routines. This webinar describes the common causes of stress in HHT, and provides strategies for managing these emotional symptoms.
