VAD044 is a molecule targeted to inhibit AKT. By binding to AKT and making it less active, it is intended to limit the overgrowth of the cells that build blood vessels, giving those vessels an opportunity to return to a more normal state.

The study drug is given as an oral capsule. VAD044 is investigational, which means it has not been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
